Friends

My oldest babies are becoming good friends. These pics remind me of Callie and Spence playing in this sandbox when they were one. Lots of good times spent building roads ands and caves. Now that the weather has finally cooled, Aidyn and Spencer spend their afternoons playing outside.

They are both enjoying school. Aidyn's personality has come alive since she has been going to mother's day out. She likes playing with other kids and gets excited when she sees her building. Her artwork seems pretty forced. Her teachers say she is too busy playing to stop and do crafts. Sounds like art time at home too. She is weighing in at 18 1/2 pounds at 21 months, but her small size doesn't deter her from taking on bigger kids. She is a spitfire.

Spencer likes his school much better than last year. He actually talks about the other kids and all of the fun they have. Last year he never mentioned his teachers or other students so we are glad that he has become more social and wants to go to preschool. His teacher says he loves storytime the best but has yet to take a nap during rest time. No surprises with either of those.

My three boys

hmmmm. . . no wonder we get so many comments when we are out and about, they do look alike, don't they??

Preston's first Football game

FW: 1, originally uploaded by asjdkgl.

How sad that all of our kids' "firsts" sporting events have been to see college or pro teams when we (J and M) hadn't even been to pro football until we became adults. when they are old enough to remember all these games we will likely live somewhere without a good team. oh well, they will enjoy the perks as long as we can.

Do they know any fight songs?

Who to cheer?

We left from church, so Spencer changed into his jersey once we got to the game. Here you can see he hasn't chosen a jersey yet bc we took both Warrick Dunn and Vince Young. After several minutes of debate, Spencer chose the Titans jersey over the Falcons one. And he chose wisely, bc the Titans won.

Preston turns 3 months

I was frying supper and looked over to see Preston looking at this comic book. I think the black and white print held his attention. And i ran for the camera when he started turning the pages.

Weighing in at 14 pounds, Preston is huge to us. He started rolling over sometime in the last two weeks but we still haven't seen him in action. We just look down and find him on his back after we have placed him on his tummy. He loves to talk and coo with us and enjoys interacting with his siblings.

Pumpkin Patch

Okay, MA, here is the long awaited post:

Last Friday we took the TN cousins to a pumpkin patch at Hicklen Farms--a one hundred year old farm. Spencer's favorite part was when the boys rode in a Gator with me and Mary Alice across the farm to pick out mums. He has loved these John Deere wagons since he was tiny and always loves riding in them. We also choose corn stalks and pumpkins at the barn. Aidyn enjoyed the cat and dog. And Jack loved running through the hay maze. We were the only customers with children so it was a great time to visit the pumpkin patch. The farmers had fun activities for the kids, including coloring their own mini-pumpkins. Spencer also liked running through the pumpkin patch and seeing all of the enormous pumpkins still on the vines. The farmers were a fun, elderly couple and they clearly loved having the kids there and spent the entire visit making sure the kids had fun. We will be making this an annual autumn trip.

Baby Weights

After 45 minutes running on the treadmill, Jeremy decided to lift some weights. He says they are almost even.

Kylie and Aidyn on Gotchaversary

Thanks to Kim for getting these pics to us. We stayed at their house a few nights while we were in Atlanta. The girls were born within a week of each other and if their current attitudes are any indication, we are all going to have our hands full when they become teenagers. Drama.

Jesus and the Gatorade Storm

Spencer stirs up a storm.

Everytime I pick Spence up from preschool his teacher, Mrs. Stephany, brings Spence to the van. He climbs in and scrambles to dig into his preschool bag so he can pull out that day's craft project. He is so happy and proud each day to show me what he made at school. Today he whipped out a bottle full of blue liquid and sparkles. He told me all about what he learned at school:
"Jesus was trying to sleep on a boat and the boat was about to sink because a storm was making the water go (and here he shook his bottle). Then Jesus told the storm to 'Be Still' and I made Jesus' storm with gatorade."

Funny kid. As I type he has given up on me reading a library book to him and he is reading it aloud to himself. Amazing to me that he can memorize these Learn to Read books. He is saying it almost verbatim. It is 64 pages long, mostly conversations between animals. I hate reading it bc it takes forever. Of course, the book is about critters playing football so I guess with that topic it should be easy for him to remember. Would love to get it on video but anytime i get the camera out he becomes shy.

Backyard Horses

The kids finally got to pet the horses that live in the pasture behind our house. Well yesterday we were excited for the kids bc they have wanted to pet them since we moved in. But of course, Aidyn LOVES petting them, so now anytime the back door is open i have to continuously check her whereabouts bc she heads straight for the fence and calls out to them. So far, the horses have come to her everytime. And being so itty bitty, she can easily get to the horses. Life is Never dull. (unless i'm asleep but then i don't get to enjoy it.)

Aidyn's 1st anniversary

Aidyn's dinner at China Pearl in Roswell, September 13th.

We reserved the party room and filled it up with friends to celebrate Aidyn's first anniversary with us. The kids enjoyed the dance floor. I wish this photo could convey the fun they had, loud fun. And I wish everyone who tried to come from playgroup and discover group could have made it that night. Our kids enjoyed being "home" and seeing their friends. Thanks to the Starbirds, Shaws, Buchanans, Fogas, Carey, Lanning and Collins families for making this a fun party for Aidyn.

Also on Aidyn's gotchaversary, we met four other families at the zoo. Parent tip: always have enough zoo maps to go around. The girls all wanted one. As you can see here, Grace Ingram really needs a map . . . even though Mackenzie is the only one close to being able to read one. The meerkats, tiger, and pandas were the crowd favorites with the girls, and Spence liked riding the train.

We had dinner one night at Josh and Kim's new home. Aidyn and Spencer loved Paxton's new Jeep. And we got to see what our future holds in about 13 years. I captured these faces as they rode around me at a fast clip. And look how big Lorelei is now. What sweet children.

Game Day in Alabama

Two months old

Preston weighed 12.6 lbs at his two month appointment. He is still a sweet baby. He smiles and makes cooing sounds. And he is still easy to care for bc he rarely cries. Thanks to Sarah and Jay for this cute outfit.
